Under 15s 2005 / 2006

The U15s slumped to the first League defeat of the season against their nearest rivals Pendle Forest. A slow start and poor defending allowed Pendle to snatch the opening goal which was soon equalised by a well taken effort from Andy Parkinson. Another defensive mistake shortly before half-time gave Pendle the lead once more. Several chances went begging in the second half before Pendle scored two late goals to give a slightly unfair 4-1 scoreline.

The Under 15s got back to winning ways with a 4-0 victory away to Darwen Rangers. An early penalty strike from Jack Aldred promised a glut of goals, but an outstanding performance from the Darwen 'keeper kept the score to 1-0 until an excellent near-post finish from Nathan Bibby 15 mintes from the end made it two. Late goals from Ben Lysons and Chris Scott rounded off the scoring.

The Under 15s continued their impressive start to the season with an outstanding performance to knock local rivals Accrington Stanley out of the Cup. Stanley, who were placed a division above Great Harwood spent much of the first half stubbornly defending but looked like going in one up at half-time after sloppy Great Harwood defending allowed a free header to sneak into the net. But with just seconds to go a battling run from Chris Scott allowed him to beat the Stanley keeper to the ball and coolly slot home the equaliser into the empty net.Rovers came out for the second half determined to get a result and with 15 minutes left a long throw from Dom Counsell was flicked on by Josh Rutter giving Nathan Bibby the easiest of chances to slot home at the far post. There was still time for Ben Lysons to round things off with a superb solo effort into the bottom corner. Rovers 3 Stanley 1.
