Tournament Review

The sun shone all day on the sixth Dave Smith Memorial Tournament!!!!!

Following months of meticulous planning, a team of over 30 volunteers put in a hard shift from the crack of dawn until the early evening, as over 60 teams from across the county competed for honours, the estimated attendance for the day was in excess of 1500.

On behalf of Great Harwood Rovers, Club Chairman Mark Pickup, extended thanks to all spectators and players, but especially the volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, including St John Ambulance, and the dozen Referees who officiated. He also gave special thanks to Dale McVarish of  B and M Builders who provided material support on the day. He commented that his "old mate Dave would have been proud of the day's proceedings and would be looking down from above with a broad smile on his boat race".

Players from 20 teams received a memento of the day in the "non-competitive" under 7s and 8s.
