Great Harwood Rovers v
Crown Paints Yellow
This was Gt Harwoods 4th game of
the season and apart from a really lacklust performance last week,
they havn't had any luck with the other results losing by the odd
goal. Gt Harwood started the game bottom of the 1st division and
they were playing last years champions, for the 1st 15 mins it was
tight and very nervous from Gt Harwood but slowly and surely they
got to grips with the game, Reagan Bolton coming close with a 20
yard drive just the wrong side of the post. Then football being as
cruel as it can be Crown scored a pin ball of a goal finishing up in
the net off the Gt Harwood defender, 0 - 1. Gt Harwood's heads never
dropped knowing full well they were the better side a few chances
went begging but nothing clear cut, Domonic O'Brien coming close
with a header from a corner, Half-time. Second Half Gt Harwood got
stronger and more confident as the game progressed 2 or 3 shots were
well saved by Crowns keeper, then Jack Hargeaves won the ball in
midfield and found striker Reagan Bolton who looked up saw the
keeper off his line he found the top corner with a cracking strike
1- 1. Crown pushed for 10 mins but to no avail, the back 4 were
outstanding the whole game, then a great tackle by Ryan Mitchell in
defence fell to Joe Blackledge who pushed it through to Charlie
Feeney he rode a tackle, saw the keeper off his line again and
lobbed him from 20 yards great goal, 2 -1. Gt Harwood could have
gone further ahead but Crowns keeper saved well, Full-time. This was
a deserved victory and hopefully Gt Harwood can push on from it.
Final Score Great Harwood 2 Crown Paints Yellow 1. Man of the

Great Harwood Rovers v Huncoat Utd
Great Harwood played only there 2nd game of
the season against Huncoat Utd and they started the brighter of the 2
teams , pressing all the time in the first 20 mins they got a
breakthrough, a scramble in the box after a corner the ball fell to Raegan
Bolton who held the defender off to set up the oncoming Jack Hargreaves
who smashed the ball into the bottom corner, great goal. 1 - 0. very few
chances for both teams, one falling to Raegan Bolton who hit a side
footed shot from 20 yards only to see it go narrowly wide. The 2nd Half
there was plenty going on, Huncoat getting an equaliser from a scrappy
goal after a mix up in Gt Harwoods defence 1 - 1. Huncoat then had the
edge for the next 15 mins and it payed off, a free kick from 20 yards
was floated into the top corner nothing the Gt Harwood keeper could do
about it, 1 - 2. It was backs to the wall for Gt Harwood and they
conceded a 3rd goal, again a mix up in the defence the keeper out of his
goals, Huncoat Utds midfielder shot towards goal and Gt Harwoods
defender saved it 'Penalty'. Huncoat converted 1 - 3. 10 mins to go Gt
Harwood threw everything at Huncoat and it payed off Arron Phillipson
scoring a cracker 2 - 3, another chance went begging but Gt Harwood ran
out of time. Final Score Great Harwood Rovers 2 Huncoat Utd 3. Man of
the Match Scott Sykes
Sun 21st
August 2008 Away Huncoat Utd
u12 v Gt Harwood Rovers u12 Gt Harwood went down in a close opening
game of the season which on balance of play it could of
gone either way. Gt Harwood only had a bare 11
players available, the game started with Gt
Harwood playing up the slope both sides were probing, Huncoat
were playing over the top for the speedy forwards to run on to but a
combination of excellent defending from especially Ryan Mitchell and alert
keeping coming off his line from Scott Sykes kept them out. At the other end
excellent work from Karl Sutton and Billy Hargreaves who began to click
down the right causing problems but the ball just would not break or was
cleaned up by their M.O.M the goal keeper. Just as it looked the first half
would end in a stalemate huncoat played a lovely
ball through between defenders and keeper and the attacker slotted the ball
past the outstretch Scott 1-0. HT. Second half saw a few changes
of position Charlie Feeney went in goal Scott sykes
to left back and Arron
Philipson to left midfield and it almost paid off
in the fist minute when good build up play from Karl sutton,
Raegan Bolton and Bradley Allen found captain
marvel Arron Phillipson
free at the back post, his fierce shot zipped just past the post. Most
of the pressure was now coming from Gt
Harwood, Billy hargreaves fired in a
lovely free kick which was headed over by Jack Hargreaves a number of
corners were swung in which were some how cleared. Then a breakaway at the
other end seemed destined to see huncoat go 2 up
but a brilliant save from Charlie Feeney and brave interceptions from
Ryan Mitchell and Dominic O'Brien cleared the ball. Chance for 1 last
push and a great through ball to Arron Phillipson who appeared to be fouled by the keeper
in the box but the ref did not deem it an offence and the final whistle blew. Effort could not
be faulted and on another day surely the goals will flow. M.O.M Karl Sutton. |
